Well, we had a very busy 3rd quarter. We spent several days in the
library learning about research and the importance of citing before you
write. We then spent several days synthesizing our notes into at least a
5 paragraph essay. Hopefully each student now has a better
understanding of the research process. We also read a variety of
biographies, poetry, and stories about ancient civilizations. This week
I have entered their last theme test, the quarter comprehension test,
the research paper, and a grammar test. By the end of the day, most
grades will be updated and final for this quarter. The only exception
is those students who need to make up any tests from when they were
absent.
I can hardly believe we are starting our last quarter
of the year. Next quarter we will finish the last theme in the
anthology, review for the NESA test, take comprehensive vocabulary post
test, and end the year with a couple of class novels. In writing we
will write persuasive essays and give a couple of presentations. Before
you know it summer will be here and your child will be gearing up for
7th grade.
I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing spring break. Enjoy!
FYI: We will take the week 26 spelling test on the Wed. that we return to school.
About Mrs. Rigoni
Hello and welcome to our classroom blog!
This is my 4th year teaching and my 1st year at Pound. Before Pound I taught 6th grade in the Park Hill School District in Kansas City, Missouri. I am currently finishing up my Masters degree in education. I love encouraging students to read and write. My hope is that by the end of the year every student is not only a better reader and writer, but that they also enjoy these activities.
I will update this blog at least once a week with what we are currently doing in class and what is coming up. I will post helpful links to other sites or to documents to help students study for any upcoming tests. I will also post a series of questions each week that are related to what we have been learning. Students should be able to answer these questions; if you aren't able to answer any of the questions then please see me so I can help you better understand.
